Cindy Clawford was a minor character mentioned in the Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso. She was a 20-year-old cat that was owned by Leslie Higgins and his family.
Higgins mentioned her for the first time when Ted Lasso asked him about his family. Higgins said that he and Julie Higgins have been married for almost 30 years, and they have five children Lindsay Higgins, Kris Higgins, Dana Higgins, Steve Higgins, Terry Higgins, three dogs, a female cat whose impending death would wreck him emotionally, and a small house.
Somewhere between August and September 2020, the cat passed away.
During a training session, Dani Rojas was injured; which players and staff members attributed this to a curse at the club. Ted decided to call every player to The Crown & Anchor and told them to listen to Higgins and pub owner Mae telling a story about the origin of the curse. Ted suggested that they should come to the treatment room and bring an item from each player at midnight to do a 'ghost cleansing' ritual ceremony.
Everyone, including club owner Rebecca Welton, and a reluctant Jamie Tartt threw items into a bin that meant something to them and paid respect to prospective footballers and soldiers who fought in the war and had sacrificed things close to them. To commemorate the loss of Cindy, Higgins donated her collar to help lift the Curse from AFC Richmond home ground, Nelson Road Stadium.
Cindy's picture was put on the fireplace mantel of Higgins' family home.
