Deborah is a recurring character in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso and Rebecca Welton's mother.

Deborah appears suddenly in Rebecca's home kitchen in the morning, discovers a naked Luca, and immediately announces that she has left her husband, Paul. During lunch with Rebecca, Keeley Jones and Ted Lasso, she explains the reason why she left her husband is that she needs to take control of her life after being disrespected by her husband. Rebecca is not too concerned about this split as her parents have fallen into a habit of separating every few years, and usually, within two weeks her father would buy an expensive environmentally sound gift, apologize, and then they reunite.

Rebecca refuse to tell her mother to get a divorce because last time she did that, her mother wouldn't speak to her for months. Knowing that her mother will eventually reunite with her father, she keeps her silence. After AFC Richmond wins against Tottenham AFC, Rebecca finds out that her mother has reunite with her father as he bought her a Tesla.

A few months later when Rebecca is having an intimate moment with Sam Obisanya in her kitchen, Deborah appears again, surprising both of them. This time she announces that her husband, Paul, has died which shocked Rebecca.

Rebecca moves back to her childhood home temporarily for her father's funeral, and Deborah happily blasting a Rick Astley's song "Never Gonna Give You Up" in the morning and remembering the good old-days. During Paul's funeral, Deborah welcomes Rupert Mannion and his new wife, Bex, who brings their newborn baby daughter. She mentions to angry Rebecca that she is just being polite to her daughter's ex husband.

When Keeley, Flo Collins, and Nora asks who is Rebecca's secret lover is, Deborah mentions that she knew that her daughter is seeing Sam. She also knew that Rebecca broke up with Sam during the wake because she knows her daughter very well.

Deborah is confronted by her daughter about Paul's infidelity and how Rebecca and Sassy found out years ago that her father was having an affair, and then some. Rebecca admits that she still hate her father, and she hate her mother for being a pushover. During an emotional eulogy, Deborah sings "Never Give You Up" along with other mourners in church which instigated by Rebecca.

Deborah discover that Rick Astley apparently is not a Black singer after all these years when she watches the music video.
