Dr. O'Sullivan is a recurring character featured in the Apple TV+ show, Ted Lasso. She is a surgeon, an ER doctor at Richmond Hospital, Roy Kent's sister, and Phoebe's mother. Her first name is not yet revealed but she has interacted with many of the characters from the show. Due to being busy at the hospital, and her ex-husband being a deadbeat "living piece of shit" according to her brother, Roy Kent frequently has to look after Phoebe. This has led to him becoming something of a father figure to his niece, to his annoyance and Dr. O'Sullivan's amusement.

History[]

Dr. O'Sullivan is on-duty in the emergency room when Sharon Fieldstone is brought in after getting hit by a car while riding her bicycle. She meets Ted Lasso when he comes in to help sign Sharon out, and mistakes them for a married couple which they both deny. Ted asks her about any potential head injuries, impressing Dr. O'Sullivan with his knowledge; he admits most of it comes from watching Grey's Anatomy as well as being an American football coach.

She advises Sharon that she needs someone to keep her company while she recovers from her concussion. Due to being on duty that day, her brother Roy attends Phoebe's parent-teacher conference.

UncleDay

Mother and Daughter

Dr. O'Sullivan and Phoebe celebrate "Uncles Day", a holiday they came up with to celebrate Roy. Roy insists this is not a real holiday, to which Dr. O'Sullivan retorts that any day that annoys her brother is a holiday for her, and it also happens to be Phoebe's favorite holiday, above Roy's birthday and Perchtenlaufen.

She watches as Jamie Tartt arrives, having invited him against Roy's wishes, and amusedly watches as he gifts Roy his own kit from the 2014 World Cup with a filthy word on it, which prompts Phoebe to make Jamie give her a pay up for making her think of it.

She and her daughter leave the room briefly to change into costumes for a performance, which she warns has an intermission to Jamie and Roy. As she leaves, Jamie remarks to Roy that his sister is fit, prompting Roy to threaten to cut his eyes out.

Notes[]

  • The character's relation to Roy Kent was first speculated on after her appearance in "Man City", due to the scene immediately following having Roy mention his sister works in an emergency room. Fans on social media also noted the character's resemblance to actor Brett Goldstein.
