Earl Greyhound was a minor character in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, a greyhound dog, an AFC Richmond mascot brought from Barkingham Palace, and was owned by Nigel.
During a Richmond match against Nottingham Forest F.C., Earl slipped his leash chasing a pigeon and leapt in front of the goal while Dani Rojas struck a penalty, and accidentally killed the dog. The tragedy left Dani traumatized as he pray and cried in the shower with water running all over him while he was still wearing the uniform. He also had a nightmare about him killing the dog and woke up while screaming "Football is death!".
Tributes were left for him outside of Nelson Road Stadium as the fans mourned his death.
The training facility honored Earl
Trent Crimm asked Ted Lasso about his comment regarding Earl's death, which led Ted to a story about how he grew up taking care a dog named Hank, and eventually they had to put the dog to sleep.
Ted said that It was funny to think about the things in one's life that can make someone cry just knowing that they existed, can then become the same thing that make someone cry knowing that they're now gone. He thought those things came into people's lives to help everyone get from one place to a better one. He then added that everyone will miss Earl in the club.
Earl is being honored as the new name for the training facility building in Nelson Road Stadium.
