Ender’s Game, by American author Orson Scott Card, was a novel that Ted once gave to Sam.
It is about a child genius selected by military forces to save the world from destruction. He is a brave and determined person. Ender is given a special teacher to help him reach a top division.
There are parallels with Sam here; being young and away from home, as he is picked to move from Nigeria to England because of his playing skills and potential, he starts his time at AFC Richmond underperforming but with Ted’s help he gains confidence in his abilities and grows into an invaluable player for the team.
