Synopsis[]

Plot[]

AFC Richmond are on a 10 win streak, thanks to Sam’s performances which pundits predict will put him on course for an international debut for Nigeria. News breaks that West Ham have suddenly parted with Nate in a shock move. In the Richmond dressing room, players discuss the international break and Beard reads out who will be playing to the respective countries;

Ted is surprised no more have been announced and players console Sam who has not been picked for the Nigerian team. Canada are playing Mexico and Van Damme goes to congratulate Dani who says they are now enemies.

In Rebecca’s office, Ted and Rebecca talk about the nature of Nate leaving West Ham and possible reasons for this. Trent has heard there was inappropriate workplace behavior at the club. Higgins interrupts and says Edwin Akufo is starting up a super league whereby top teams participate for more money. Rebecca wonders if Rupert’s involved and she gets a call from him which she hangs up from.

Meanwhile, Jade comforts Nate who is in bed. He wonders if he has been an idiot for quitting his job and Jade reassures him he hasn’t been. As Jade leaves, Nate sees reporters outside his flat and he goes back to bed. Keeley walks into the KJPR office to find it is being emptied. She speaks to Barbara who reveals that, in an email not sent to Keeley by Jack, funding has been pulled from KJPR and it is being closed. Keeley goes into her office and cries. On a plane for the international game, Van Damme tries to offer some crisps to Dani but Dani screws them up and pours them on the floor. At Nelson Road, Sam has a bad training session and Ted reassures him that he will be okay. Beard gets a text from Jane to go axe throwing at targets of Nate and Ted ponders going though Roy can’t. Rebecca sees Sam in the corridor and apologizes for what happened to him. She makes her way into her office where she finds Rupert where he offers Richmond a chance in the Super League which Rebecca will ponder. She asks Rupert why Nate left West Ham, to which he responds that some people are not ready when their chance arrives.

Roy cannot attend the axe throwing event due to going to his sister’s house to celebrate “Uncle’s Day” which is Phoebe’s favorite day of the year. Jamie arrives to the surprise of Roy, where Phoebe says Jamie is Roy’s best friend. Roy is given an England shirt by Jamie and Phoebe gives him a colorful shirt she made at school. At Sam’s restaurant, he is surprised to see it is not fully booked and finds Edwin there who faked the bookings. He is opening a new restaurant across from Sam’s and wants his to fail. He also paid the Nigerian government not to feature Sam in the national team. Nate can’t sleep so sneaks out of his house and into his parents’ house. The next day, Rebecca storms into Higgins office to ask advice on the Super League. Higgins believes she should go to the meeting about it as she has a seat at the table and can find out more.

Keeley is at the pub and has missed calls from Rebecca and a text from Jack saying it is not her fault. She talks to Mae about the challenges of being in charge and Mae advises on this. Nate continues to stay in bed as his mum brings in meals for him. Roy walks into Nelson Road wearing the shirt Phoebe made him which raises eyebrows among players and staff. The players are watching Mexico vs Canada and Van Damme is injured by Dani who shows no remorse. Rebecca gets a text from Rupert about the meeting - after Rebecca finds the green matchbook and soldier - and she says she’ll be there. Keeley goes to a shop while Roy takes the shirt off and drives off - before driving back to collect it. Rebecca is in her room preparing for the meeting, doing exercises.

Roy takes Phoebe to school to talk to Ms. Bowen Phoebe’s teacher. They discuss the time they last met and hope she was helpful cleaning up the last mess. Roy is in deep thought about this and walks away. Keeley buys Barbara a snow globe to thank her, though Barbara must pay for it in order for it to count towards her collection. Nate’s parents head out while he is in bed. At the Super League meeting, Edwin reveals plans for the league including how much profits the clubs will collect. Rebecca is appalled and makes a speech saying how bad the idea is as Nate plays the violin at his parents’ house. The Richmond players are watching the England game and see Jamie get subbed on to the pitch, wearing the number 24 in tribute to Sam. Rebecca finishes her speech, which Edwin declares was very good before attempting to bring back the proposal to the rest of the group. However, the other men are apparently moved by Rebecca's speech and vote no, prompting Edwin to storm out of the room. Though, not before apparently throwing the food at everyone, causing Rebecca and Rupert laugh out loud.

Nate continues to play the violin and stops suddenly as he realizes his dad is watching him. His dad apologizes to him for how Nate was treated in his childhood and says he just wanted the best for his son, saying he is a genius. Rebecca and Rupert talk alone in the meeting room and Rebecca turns down Rupert’s advance. Roy goes to Keeley’s house to leave her a note but is interrupted by Keeley herself, where he tells her his feelings. Nate plays a game with his parents as Rebecca arrives at Keeley’s house to find out about her situation at work. Rebecca agrees to put in the funding for KJPR. Keeley tells Rebecca she’d be dumb to get back with Rupert, as Roy comes downstairs in his dressing gown. At Nelson Road, Will finds the dressing room looking clean and tidy, finding a note from Nate apologizing for his behavior. Keeley is back at the KJPR office and gives Barbara her job back, though they exchange money and the snow globe again as Barbara only gets one when leaving a job. In the locker room, Dani is happy to talk with Van Damme again though Van Damme is unsure.

Ted and Rebecca discuss what winning means to them and the pair decide they want to win for the team, not for anyone else. Rebecca spits her drink in Ted’s face as a ceremonial gesture of this.
