Jeff Goodman is a recurring character featured in the Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso, and a footballer for AFC Richmond. He is usually seen along with other team members and even participates in group activities such as karaoke and dancing in clubs. He hangs out with players such as Jamie Tartt, Paul Reynolds. Tom O'Brien. and Arlo Dixon.
It seems he is close with Jamie as he is always hanging out with him in the locker room and clubs. He usually laughed whenever Jamie bullied Nathan Shelley or whenever Jamie picked a fight with Roy Kent, but he recently changed his ways after Jamie left the club.
Jeff is shown to throw a pair of boxing gloves into a bin during the 'ghost cleansing' ceremony at midnight in their locker room before they take it out and light it on fire.
During the Trick Plays meeting, he suggested "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" as one of the elaborate set pieces.
When Jamie returns to the club, Jeff is the first person he greets on the field.
When Zava joins Richmond, just like every team players, he is very smitten and in awe to see the superstar player in the locker room. The Richmond players are now following Zava's lifestyle - they are meditating together in the middle of the locker room, including Jeff, and it freaks Jamie out.
But after the lost the first half match against West Ham United F.C., Coach Beard and Roy shows them a video of Nathan ripping off the BELIEVE sign, which results them to anger and anarchy as the players starts to play dirty and chaotic in the match. However, Jeff is one of the players who doesn't play violently as he spend so much times trying to separate his teammates fighting the West Ham players.
Ted tells a story about Japanese culture of soulmates called "Akai ito de musubareteru" or "The red string of fate" which an invisible red string connects your fingers together with your partner. But instead of their fingers, Ted put Jeff and Jamie connected with red strings around their penises.
Jamie warns Jeff to stick by his side no matter what, which makes the redhead glares. But when he dribbles a ball during the training, he accidentally pulls the string too tight and the string slips away from Jamie's penis. Jamie screams in pain and Jeff looks at him in horror when he sees that the string slips and his partner checking his penis. Dani Rojas announces that Jamie is okay, and Jeff sighs in relief. Shakenly, Jeff says that he thought that he ripped Jamie's knob off.
Jeff and his fellow teammates help Sam Obisanya to clean up and renovate his restaurant, Ola's, which was vandalized when Sam criticized the British government for refusing the Nigerian and other African immigrants entering the U.K. He and the other teammates spending some quality times together in the restaurant, eating together like a family alongside with Sam's father, Ola Obisanya.
When there are many nude photos of celebrities are leaked on the internet, the team discusses whether they should delete their photos from their phones. Colin Hughes thinks that deleting photos makes no sense because it feels like deleting their memories, but many disagrees. Dani mentions that it's the right thing to do just like Jean Valjean from Les Misérables, and Jeff excitedly agrees with him by calling Dani as "24601".
It's not until Sam informs that their friend Keeley Jones's pictures are among the leaked ones and now are spread all over the internet that Jeff decides to delete his own pictures and not arguing anymore.
During the last match between Richmond and West Ham United for the Premier League rank, he is replaced by Anders Rosenfeldt. He dressed up in a suit and listening to his manager slash coach for the last time, encouraging the team to believe themselves. Jeff and the rest of the players apparently keeps a piece of ripped BELIEVE sign poster, and during the break, they put the whole poster back together.
When the club wins the match, everyone is happy and in uproar because finally after all these years, Richmond manages to be in the second position in the Premiere League. The fans are running to the field after the match ended, including him, and he celebrates the winning with his friends. Jeff is last seen jumping, hopping, and dancing along his manager Ted, who is dancing in the middle of the team circle.
