"La Locker Room Aux Folles" is the ninth episode of season 3 of the Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso. It premiered on May 10, 2023.
Synopsis[]
Colin and Isaac's friendship is tested. Roy is asked to do a press conference.
Plot[]
At Nelson Road Stadium, Roy expresses his happiness at the new formation during the players’ training session with Ted and Beard. Colin congratulates Isaac McAdoo on a good call but Isaac ignores him and a similar reaction is drawn when Colin offers to take Isaac for a beer and to have a chat. Meanwhile, Rebecca and Keeley discuss missed texts from Jack as Ted interrupts and gives Keeley a gift after the breakup. Ted then asks if he can skip the press conference as he has a parent/teacher meeting to attend with Michelle. Rebecca agrees and Keeley suggests Roy take the conference for which Roy reluctantly agrees at Rebecca’s request.
At the London Stadium, Jade brings lunch for Nate and the pair are interrupted by Rupert who introduces himself to Jade. Higgins goes into Rebecca’s office to inform her of an issue with the press conference, where Beard has taken Roy’s place and is arguing with reporters over music. Rebecca swiftly escorts Beard out and answers questions herself about music. She goes to the gym and demands Roy meet her in her office. As Roy leaves, Colin speaks to Trent where he says Isaac reacted badly and Trent recommends giving Isaac more time. Rebecca shouts at Roy, saying he’s got to stop ducking difficult situations and Roy then leaves. That night, Nate is sorting formations for West Ham’s game the following day. He is interrupted by Rupert where they discuss Nate’s relationship with Jade.
The next day, West Ham face Southampton while Richmond play Brighton. Rupert wants to meet Nate for a guy’s night out after the game. Keeley receives a text from Jack during the game, who is in Argentina and thus confirms the break-up. In the dressing room, Isaac refuses to fist bump Colin and furthermore exits early from hands-in-the-middle with his teammate too. Tensions boil over as both Isaac and Colin make mistakes, the latter of which causes an argument between the two players. As Richmond go into half-time 1-0 down, a fan uses an offensive term and Isaac goes into the crowd to confront him. Isaac is sent off while the fan is removed from the stadium. At half time, the players and coaches discuss what happened and Isaac says it’s unacceptable what happened and shouldn’t ignore it - he storms out, giving the Captain’s armband to Sam who will not give it to Jamie, despite being asked. The players wonder why that word uttered by the fan caused Isaac to react the way he did and despite speculation, Colin puts it to rest and Ted reassures Colin. Meanwhile, Roy talks with Isaac about the outburst, saying he needs to sort it out as bottling it up is not healthy.
Richmond win the game 2-1, with Colin winning the Man of the Match award. West Ham also win and Jade sends Nate a congratulatory message and to enjoy the night out. As Nate arrives, he sees Rupert with two companions, Kelsey and Libby, and Nate decides not to attend, not wanting to be unfaithful to Jade. At Nelson Road, Trent congratulates Ted on 8 wins in a row as he is asked about attending the post-game press conference. Instead of him attending however, Roy does much to the surprise of the press. He addresses the situation with Isaac and tells a personal story about how what you say can be very dependent on personal circumstances. Nate arrives at Jade’s apartment and gives her a hug as Isaac visits Colin’s house. He is upset that Colin lied to him for so long about being gay but Colin explains why he felt he had to. Isaac apologises and promises to be supportive. Colin invites him in and the pair play FIFA while discussing Colin’s personal life.
