Leeds United F.C. is a professional football club based in Leeds, West Yorkshire in England. The club play their home matches at Elland Road and compete in the Championship, the second tier of the English football league system. The club is featured in the Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso.

Leeds' main rivals are widely considered to be Manchester United F.C. and Chelsea F.C.. As the largest cities within the historic counties of Yorkshire and Lancashire, animosity between the regions date back to the Wars of the Roses.

Leeds supporters are renowned for singing the signature song "Marching on Together" before and during matches. Other notable songs Leeds fans sing during games include "We Are The Champions, Champions of Europe" in reference to the 1975 European Cup Final which Leeds lost due to dubious refereeing decisions.

An LGBT fans' group, Marching Out Together, was formed in 2017 and sits on the club's Supporters' Advisory Group. There is also a group for Sikh supporters, called Punjabi Whites. The Leeds United Disabled Organization (LUDO) was founded in 1992. There is a well-known hooligan firm amongst the fans known as the Leeds United Service Crew.

AFC Richmond beat them as part of their winning streak upon signing Zava from Juventus.

The Real Ted Lasso?[]

On February 28, 2022, Jesse Marsch was appointed as head coach of Premier League side Leeds United and signed a three-year deal following the departure of Marcelo Bielsa. He was the third American national to manage in the Premier League, after Bob Bradley and German-born David Wagner. The British press remarked that Marsch would have to combat prejudiced attitudes toward American soccer coaches.

Jesse Marsch was being compared to AFC Richmond Manager and Coach Ted Lasso: an American soccer coach who is hired to be the next coach on a Premier League football team, a sport he has zero knowledge of. When being compared to the fictional character, he said:

"I think there's probably a stigma [around American coaches]. I'm not sure Ted Lasso helped. I haven't watched the show but I get it. People hate hearing the word soccer, I've used the word football since I was a professional football player. More and more in the United States, we are adapting to what the game is here in England and our connection with what this league is and what the culture of the sport is in this country. I can understand that they don't think we have the experiences that can be created here in Europe. Frankly, they're right. It was the reason I came to Europe, learnt German and tried to adapt to new cultures. This is the fifth country I've coached football in. It takes me out of my comfort zone. It challenges me to grow and develop and learn new things. I'm very open to that. That sounds like Ted Lasso I think from what I've heard!"

He was sacked as Leeds manager on February 6, 2023, with the club sitting 17th in the table.
