Ted Lasso Wiki

Lloyd is a recurring character featured in the Apple TV+ show, Ted Lasso, and a sports journalist. He is a supporter of AFC Richmond and regularly attends press conferences there and sits at the front of the press room.

He appears for the first time at Ted Lasso's first press conference. He and other journalists like Trent Crimm, Marcus, Gary, and Sarah are very skeptical about Ted's ability to lead the club. Lloyd is correcting Ted about how the football match works by telling him that a match can end up in a tie instead of just winning or losing. He also challenges him to name any footballers, which Ted admits that he doesn't know any except Ronaldo and that guy who can bend like himself.

Lloyd and journalists who sit in front then accidentally get sprayed by Ted when he drinks his fizzy water.

Rebecca Welton chides the reporters and the journalists for being rude to Ted and says that the club under Rupert Mannion's ownership rarely wins anything and played in mediocrity, which makes everyone cringe and Lloyd calls it harsh. Rebecca glares and asks Lloyd whether she's wrong for stating the fact, to which he meekly answer, "No."

She then assures everyone that everything is going to change with the way things everyone does things, and that thing is the "Lasso Way". The reporters and the journalists are still skeptical, and Lloyd says that he gives Ted only three weeks before he quit or fails.

Marcus and Lloyd briefly interview Ted who is on his way to Liverpool's Goodison Park and asks whether he is worried about the Relegation due to the team's middling record. Ted deflects and says that he's more concerned with the definition of "relegation". They also ask his feeling about the departure of Jamie Tartt, which Ted replies that it breaks his heart a little because he thought that he made a connection with the player and the loss hit him harder and stays with him a lot longer than the matches. Ted then bid both Lloyd and Marcus goodbye and say the last person there is a scotch egg, instead of a 'Last One In is a Rotten Egg' idiom, which confuses both journalists.

Lloyd is interviewing and congratulating Nathan Shelley for the club's win against Tottenham Spurs. He asks what happened to Ted beforehand when he left in the middle of the match, talks about risky Trick plays for the match, and then praises Nate for his strategy. Nate talks about the strategy and humblebrags that he's not some kind of "wonder kid", which Lloyd corrects him that the phrase is "wunderkind".

Lloyd asks Sam Obisanya during an interview how does it feel when Richmond lost badly to Manchester City F.C., which Sam answers truthfully that it's tough and he feels sorry that the club disappoint the fans.

He is seen with other journalists in the press room after the club's tie game against Brentford FC and listening to Ted talk about Trent Crimm's article regarding his panic attack. He and everyone else notices Trent's absence in the press room as Ted talks about mental health issues in athletics.

Marcus ask Ted about Nate's press conference where the former Richmond's coach mocked and insulted Ted's coaching ability. Ted humbly answer that Nate is a great coach and the West Ham United F.C. is lucky to have him, but he adds a backhanded compliment that Nate didn't even make fun of his dumb American way. Ted jokingly makes fun of himself by comparing himself with a giraffe with a top hat, and Lloyd enthusiastically raises his hand to ask, but Ted dampen his excitement by saying that he doesn't know why a giraffe wears a top hat.
