Manchester City Football Club is an English football club based in Manchester that competes in the Premier League, the top flight of English football, and featured in the Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso. The club is considered to be the arch-enemy of AFC Richmond throughout the series as they beat the underdog club constantly.
In the show, it is a fictionalized version of the real club, however, the current manager of the club is Pep Guardiola. Manchester City's biggest rivalry is with neighbor Manchester United F.C., against whom they contest the Manchester derby, and more recent competitive Premier League rivalries with Tottenham Hotspur F.C. and Chelsea F.C..
The club loans Jamie Tartt to AFC Richmond and he turns into the star player and top scorer especially during Ted Lasso's tenure as the manager.
History[]
The club's home ground is the Etihad Stadium in East Manchester, to which they moved in 2003, having played at Maine Road since 1923. Manchester City adopted their sky blue home shirts in 1894, in the first season with the current name. Manchester City received considerable financial investment both in playing staff and facilities following its takeover through the Abu Dhabi United Group in August 2008.
Under the management of Pep Guardiola, Manchester City won the Premier League in 2018, becoming the only team in the competition history to attain 100 points in a single season. Over the course of its history, the club has won eight league titles, making them the fifth most successful club in English football.
Manchester City fans song of choice and the most commonly sung is a rendition of "Blue Moon". The club also play the popular "Live for City" song, which is a remixed version of "Pounding" by Doves before most games at Eastlands as well as playing a number of songs by Oasis, due to the both bands' support of the team.
In 2022, Forbes estimated the club was the sixth-most valuable in the world, worth $4.250 billion. Manchester City are owned by City Football Group Limited, a British-based holding company valued at £3.73 ($4.8) billion in November 2019.
Uniforms[]
Manchester City's home colours are sky blue and white. Traditional away kit colours have been either maroon or (from the 1960s) red and black; however, in recent years several colours have been used. The origins of the club's home colours are unclear, but there is evidence that the club has worn blue since 1892 or earlier.
Rivalry Against Richmond[]
Loaning Player[]
During a press conference, Trent Crimm asks whether Ted is going to keep the club's best player on the bench, and he answers that it depend on Jamie whether he would do what expected from the club. Rebecca Welton informs Ted that if he'd still keep Jamie on the bench for the rest of the season, they'd want him back to their club. Unfortunately, Rebecca decides to give Jamie back to Manchester City afterwards,
During the final match against Richmond, Roy Kent chases down Jamie and manages to tackle him but with a heavy price as he hurt his knee badly. Isaac McAdoo then lead the team into using the 'Lasso Special' elaborate set-piece; the American Football strategy confuses the opposing team, and it gives Dani a chance to score a goal. After Richmond ties it in stoppage time, Jamie goes down the length of the pitch, without Richmond knowing because they are celebrating the goal. Jamie makes the extra pass to his team player, Hendrick, who scores the goal. Richmond loses the game and the club gets relegated.
Jamie left Manchester City Football Club right at the start of the new season to pursue a reality TV career, including an appearance on Lust Conquers All; a popular competitive romance reality show. Jamie is eliminated and voted off from the show which surprised him and his co-stars because everyone thought he was going to win. During an interview with iTV's This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Phillip asks Jamie whether he'd return to Man City, which he thinks that Pep Guardiola will take him back. Both presenters show him a video clip of Vinai Ahuja interview, telling Lloyd the reporter, that Jamie will not coming back to the club and wishes him luck. Jamie then decides to return to Richmond.

Notes[]
- Despite the show securing the rights to use the intellectual property of Manchester City, it seems unlikely that the show will break the trend of using fictional characters to represent footballers from different teams, it has relied on the use of fictional characters to fill in the squads.
- Jamie Tartt was loaned from the club to Richmond, returned to Man City, quit, and joined Richmond again all in a course of one year.
