Marcus Adebayo is a recurring character featured in the Apple TV+ show, Ted Lasso, and a sports journalist for The Independent. He is a supporter of AFC Richmond and regularly attends press conferences and sits in the back row of the press room. He is one of the journalists present at Ted Lasso's first press conference with Trent Crimm, Gary, Sarah, and Lloyd.
Marcus asks Ted about the match against Crystal Palace F.C. and he answers that crystals seem fragile, which make the journalists laugh.
Marcus and Lloyd briefly interview Ted who is on his way to Liverpool's Goodison Park and asks whether he is worried about the Relegation due to the team's middling record. Ted deflects and says that he's more concerned with the definition of "relegation". They also ask about his feeling about the departure of Jamie Tartt, which Ted replies that it breaks his heart a little because he thought that he made a connection with the player and the loss hit him harder and stays with him a lot longer than the matches. Ted bid both Lloyd and Marcus goodbye and says that the last person there is a scotch egg, instead of a 'Last One In is a Rotten Egg' idiom, which confuses both journalists.
After the club lost to Nottingham Forest FC and Dani Rojas accidentally killed Earl the Greyhound, Marcus asks Ted how many more matches can end in a draw before he hit the panic button which the coach jokingly answers that he never hit a panic button or a snooze button.
Marcus is seen with other journalists in the press room after the club's tie game against Brentford F.C. and listening to Ted talk about Trent Crimm's article regarding his panic attack. He and everyone else notices Trent's absence in the press room as Ted talks about mental health issues in athletics.
Marcus surprises everyone when he announces that he works for The Independent, which prompts everyone to expresses their amazement. It is apparent that the newspaper hired Marcus as their new sport journalist after Trent Crimm was fired.
He introduces himself before asking a question by saying: "Marcus Adebayo. The Independent."
He seems very proud with his new gig as he ask Ted about Nathan Shelley's press conference where the former Richmond's coach mocked and insulted Ted's coaching ability.
