Michael is a recurring character featured in the Apple TV+ show, Ted Lasso, possibly a travelling businessman, and Colin Hughes' love interest. It is apparent when they are together, they are not out in the open with their relationship. Other people thinks that he's another friend of Colin's.

Michael is introduced as Colin's male partner when the footballer wakes up at his boyfriend's house. Although never mentioned whether they are having a steady relationship, it seems Michael and Colin are very intimate and solid. In the kitchen, Michael greets Colin and tells him it's a big day for AFC Richmond. Colin is surprised that Michael knows about football, which he deny and corrects him that he knows about Zava joining the club.

Colin asks him to text him when Michael gets back from Dubai, implying that he's leaving for a while. They both kiss each other goodbye, and Colin tells him to have a safe flight, and Michael tells him to have a safe drive - knowing that his boyfriend is really bad at driving, which is proven right because when Colin drives away from his driveway, he hits a trash bin with his orange Noble.

Michael texts Colin from Dubai and sends him a picture of himself, and it's apparent that Colin misses him especially after Coach Beard, Ted Lasso, and Roy Kent benches him after Zava changed the play formation. Michael teases him via text that Colin is thirsting after him.

Michael returns home and goes to see Colin at the opening of Sam Obisanya's restaurant Ola's, and is introduced as Colin's friend slash wingman. It's obvious they both are keeping their relationship secret so Michael plays along by telling a story about how bad Colin is whenever he tries to flirt with women to Thierry Zoreaux and Isaac McAdoo.

After dinner, Michael and Colin have a make out session a few blocks from the restaurant. They are in their own world, kissing each other, not knowing that Trent Crimm accidentally spots them together when he is walking home from the restaurant.

Before the match between Richmond and West Ham United F.C. for the the Premier League rank, Michael is at the VIP ticket booth and asks for his reserved ticket under the name "Wynonna Judd". He is among the spectators, watching his boyfriend battling the other club.

When the Richmond wins the match, everyone is happy and in uproar because finally after all these years, the club manages to be in the second position in the Premiere League. The fans are running to the field after the match ended, including Michael. Both of them are happy to see each other and they kissed.

He is last seen attending the wedding of Coach Beard and Jane Payne at Stonehenge, watching the couple with Colin by his side. He looks at his crying boyfriend happily and in love.

Notes[]

  • Michael is the first LGBTQ+ character in the show who is being introduced in the third season. The Co-Creator Brendan Hunt told RadioTimes.com that they decided before season two that they wanted a gay player on the team, although they initially considered bringing in a whole new character for it, so Michael, a non footballer, is a bridge for Colin himself, a gay player who is in the closet.
  • Due to not having a confirmed last name on the show, Michael is referred to by fans of the show as “Michael Nolastname”.
