Striker is a position in football where the player is often furthest up the football pitch towards the opposition goal. Team members aim to pass the ball to the striker in crucial moments so they can strike at goal. Strikers often score the most goals in football teams and are often high profile football names.
In the Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso, Jamie Tartt is a striker for AFC Richmond and is their top goalscorer. He joined AFC Richmond on loan from Manchester City F.C. Jamie often boasts that fans only come to see him as he scores the team's goals. Strikers still need to be team players in order to score goals and if strikers do not pass the ball properly and go for goal solo, it is possible this could alienate teammates as happened with Jamie Tartt and AFC Richmond players.
