Tommy Winchester is a recurring character featured in the Apple TV+ show, Ted Lasso, and a Center Back player for AFC Richmond. He is seen with other team members and even participates in group activities such as karaoke and dancing in clubs. He usually hang out with other players such as Robbie Roberts, Declan Cockburn, Kyle McCracken, Babatunde, Moe Bumbercatch, Isaac McAdoo, Gareth Canterbury, and Thierry Zoreaux.
During a match against Manchester City F.C., their Captain Isaac McAdoo, tells everyone to do the 'Lasso Special' in which he positioned himself as a linebacker in the middle.
A quiet and an awkward man, Tommy is shown to be more active on the field or praying with other team players while watching the match. He is also the second person after Isaac to support Sam Obisanya boycotting Dubai Air by covering the sponsor's name on his uniform with a black tape, as he has a sense of solidarity and respect to his Nigerian blood and fellow players.
Tommy always look uncomfortable whenever someone being berated or insulted. Before the match against Everton F.C. in Liverpool, Nathan Shelley roasts Isaac in front of other players that he's been playing football like a "big dumb pussy" as a motivation. Tommy, who sits next to Isaac, covers his face with his shirt, uncomfortable with the situation.
While attending Christmas dinner at Leslie Higgins' home, he brings an original Nigerian dish Jollof with goat meat instead of chicken, which makes Sam very happy. Higgins acknowledge him and Babatunde that it is an honor to have them with the family to share the traditions and make new ones.
During a match against Tottenham Hotspur F.C., a frustrated Nate order him, Paul Reynolds, and Babatunde to substitute Dani Rojas, Colin Hughes, Richard Montlaur positions, and order Isaac to use the "Park The Bus" elaborate set piece to win the match.
When Zava joins Richmond, just like every team players, he is in awe to see the superstar player in the locker room. The Richmond players are now following Zava's lifestyle and meditating together in the middle of the locker room. But after the lost the first half match against West Ham United F.C., Coach Beard and Roy Kent shows them a video of Nate ripping off the BELIEVE sign, which results them to anger and anarchy as the players starts to play dirty and chaotic in the match. However, Tommy is one of the players who doesn't play violently as he spend so much times trying to separate his teammates fighting the West Ham players.
Richmond visits Amsterdam for an Exhibition Match (Friendlies Match) against AFC Ajax, and Ted Lasso tells everyone to have fun in Amsterdam for the whole night to lift their spirits. Isaac tells everyone to meet up in the lobby of their hotel so they can decide where to go and what to do. At the lobby of their hotel, the team can't decide where are they going to do. They spend the whole night arguing, discussing, and voting where to go and what to do, when they finally decides to play pillow fights at the lobby of their hotel. In the morning, he and the team's spirit are lifted and they go home to England with a better mood.
Tommy asks whether they should delete artsy photos
Tommy and his fellow teammates help Sam to clean up and renovate his restaurant, Ola's, which was vandalized when Sam criticized the British government for refusing the Nigerian and other African immigrants entering the U.K. He and the other teammates spending some quality times together in the restaurant, eating together like a family alongside with Sam's father, Ola Obisanya.
When there are many nude photos of celebrities are leaked on the internet, the team discusses whether they should delete their photos from their phones. Colin Hughes thinks that deleting photos makes no sense because it feels like deleting their memories, but many disagrees. Tommy asks whether artsy photos or black-and-white pictures should be deleted, because they can't see anything anyway, but everyone says he should delete them anyway.
It's not until Sam Obisanya informs that their friend Keeley Jones's pictures are among the leaked ones and now are spread all over the internet that Tommy decides to delete his own pictures and not arguing anymore.
